Just had my daughter 13" macbook pro repaired.
I thought their flat rate repair included labor
it was billed a level 2 flat rate repair $375.00 labor charge $100
Not very happy with Apple these days We had the computer for 1 year and 1 week they say it was 1 year and 1 month old they included the shipping time and the week and a half to get a genius appointment
had it done at the New Seattle Apple store. Not very impressed.
hugh space with lots of tables there is absolutely no labeling or information on any area or product. lots of employees with minimal knowledge of products

Call them. Easier than the store sometimes.

Did you ask why the extra $100? What exactly did they repair?

Any chance you bought it on a credit card that adds a year of warranty? Maybe you can get reimbursed through the credit card company.

I haven't seen that, but last logic board replacement flat rate that I saw was quoted at $475. My guess is that they simply broke out a labor charge for their own accounting purposes.

It's not going to help in this case, but for future reference: Verify your warranty status before walking in and if it's really that close then call Apple at 1-800-275-2273.

Ask to speak to an AppleCare specialist. Request a customer satisfaction exception.

They're pretty good at providing those exceptions over the phone when a Mac is just out of warranty. They'll give you a confirmation code for the Genius and when you tell him you've got a customer satisfaction exception he'll check it in just like any Mac under AppleCare.

And while on the phone getting that exemption, get applecare.
