During the Gernan occupation of France during World War II, Aznavour and his family hid Jews and “a number of people who were persecuted by the Nazis, while Charles and his sister Aida were involved in rescue activities,” according to a statement issued in 2017 by the President of Israel, Reuven Rivlin. In that year he and Aida received the Raoul Wallenberg Award for their wartime activities. "The Aznavours were closely linked to the Missak Manouchian Resistance Group and in this context they have offered shelter to Armenians, Jews and others at their own Paris flat, risking their own lives."
Yes..like most Armenians, dynamic, versatile, ridiculously intelligent, active and passionate people. I know a lot of Armenians, grew up in a flock of them, and they are all a force to be reckoned with..they set an example for everyone to follow..especially in light of the hardships they have faced and their continuing effort to be a solid community that is far flung..
Anthny Bourdain did a piece on the Armenians and it is one of his best..riveting history, amazing fortitude.
