gamed?

I restarted my mac this a.m. and Little Snitch asks if I want gamed to connect.
Don't know what it is, and what an awful name.

Anyone here know what this does?
Should I allow it to have it's way with me?

Thanks!

Game Center is part of the OS. Keeps track of your game-play and achievements on iOS devices and Macs, assuming that your games support it.

I block it with LittleSnitch.

How can I turn 'gamed' off on OS X Sierra?
This process has been around for a handful of Mac OS X releases so some of the advice on that discussion thread may be applicable to your.

All of the background service processes in Mac OS X are named by their role plus the letter 'd' for daemon. This one is 'game' for the Game Center. Thus 'gamed'.

Thanks all.
I'm leaving it blocked since I don't play games on this Mac.

As to my problem with the name, having never seen this come up in Little Snitch before aroused my suspicions. And with gamed, as in "you've been gamed", the name seemed like something one could attach to a bit of mischief that had crept into my computer.
Thanks for the explanation Tominator.

Persistent little bugger though. It's attempted to connect 4745 times since I blocked it yesterday.
