I May Be The Last To Know™ - hidden Safari tab feature I just discovered

Well, when did this thing happen in Safari? 10 years ago? Last month?

Cracked me up when I mistakenly did it this morning.

In case the attached GIF doesn't come through: you open a few tabs, and then on the far left one, you click and drag it to the left and it makes a small logo for that tab; it then won't delete or respond to normal tab behavior. I guess it's for having a few tabs that you want to keep open? Not sure yet.

FF does this as well, called a pinned tab.

It works great unless the site doesn have a favicon...

That’s been a Firefox option for probably 5 years. Maybe more.

Yeah, they have been around since about 2015. Have been using them for years now. One of my favorite things about Safari actually. smiling smiley

So FF has had it two more years than Safari (started with El Cap, I'm pretty sure).

How will I ever get over the shame.

It's not a make or break deal for me, so I appreciate Apple's fit and finish. Fashionably late to the party, in this instance, is fine by me.

It works great unless the site doesn have a favicon...

But it still works.

I'm pretty sure Safari or the OS makes a generic one. I'm on my Mavericks Mac at the moment; maybe somebody can check it out.

If there's no emoticon, it just puts the first letter of the domain in a little icon box.

Bingo. Small point- it's a favicon.
