Back in October I bought a refurb MacBook pro and in almost every respect I am very happy with it.
However, it doesn't seem very good at getting a wireless signal when away from the transmitter. Here at home I have a wireless network and my wife's G5 iMac, my G5 Dual, a 700 eMac and my MacBook happily work from it but I cannot take my MacBook very far from the house before dropping the signal, in fact even moving it around the house shows a big drop in reception in some places even though other Macs there seem fine. My daughter has a G4 iBook and she can take it anywhere in the garden and still get a signal whereas I just move a few yards from the back door and it's gone.
At our local MUG I found that a member's iBook happily picked up the free signal that we have citywide here in Norwich (UK) but my machine only found it by taking it outside and even then kept dropping it (signal that is!).
So is there a way to improve my MacBook, is it a common fault with it so should I be getting Apple to fix it or are G4 iBooks just so much better at receiving signals?
