Robot Vacuums....GO!
Posted by: Markintosh

My New Year's resolution is to keep floors more in control this year with a robot vacuum.

We don't need fancy features...something that just works well with minimum fuss:

• All hardwood floors downstairs (the place of need)
• Minimal carpets
• One corgi and one golden retriever

Discuss below please. Currently the Eufy 11s Boost IQ at $229 seems to be the top contender.

Good luck given they don’t like pet hair. (Requires frequent removal of hair from the brush.)

yeah robo vac doesn't seem to fit, which leaves two choices:

  1. Dry Swiffer Sweeper or equivalent.*
  2. NO Dogs Sympathy_emoticon_by_ChaosAngel5

*it's amazing how much 'stuff' these pick-up with minimal effort.

If either of your dogs have accidents, a robo vacuum is not what you want.

We have a Roomba 800 series - that works very well - the Mastiff sheds something awful - the Doberman not so much - the downside is that you need to empty the bin more than once in a run. I've been looking at the X7+ that has an automatic empty cannister back at the dock that would seem to solve this problem - but it is VERY pricey.

YMMV

Markintosh, note that both your dogs are long(ish) fur/hair...

• One corgi and one golden retriever

And vicrock’s are both short hair.

That can make a vac performance difference.

If you don’t have a cat, and said cat isn’t riding the robot vac, i ask, what is the point?

We have a roomba Costco edition and besides getting itself into cords when someone messes with the invisible walls, it works well, but needs to be emptied every day. We have two dogs. Our older dog we just put down, it was a lab mix and our small dog, a Boston Terrier.

The eufy Boost IQ RoboVac 11S is a great choice in general - not sure about pet hair. We have a couple of fairly new wool rugs that shed like crazy and we have to empty it mid-run. As they get older, it should get better but if you're home when you run it, just check after 30 min or so. I guess the convenience of sitting and working while it vacuums outweighs the need to empty it. We paid $199 for it and gave it as a gift when it dropped to $169, so I'd use CamelCamelCamel and wait for it to drop at least $20.

The eufy hardware is the same as a Deebot, but I think they add their own electronics and/or wifi/app access. Not only do they look alike online, but we have the previous generation Deebot N79 and I am certain they are made in the same place. The 11s/N79s is a great upgrade over the 11/N79 generation. It has a lot more tenacity and tends to get stuck less, its suction is better, and it can get under more things since it is slimmer.

Right now the Deebot N79s is $199 and is equivalent to the 11s. It has wifi and an app which are useless in my experience, so I wouldn't let that sway your decision.

Hope this helps!
