SX40 on a tripod, while fighting high level haze for way too long in way too cold.

Very nice, Buzz! Here's my attempt. Cloud cover moved in, unfortunately.

If I could do it over again, I'd get a newer camera that takes at least 4K/5K videos, and would have let 'er rip for awhile on a separate tripod while trying to take higher res stills to capture the ultimate shot. Where we were/are in SoCal, it was a gorgeous day yesterday, but it cooled off substantially when the sun went down, and kept getting colder throughout the lunar show. We had a high altitude haze that kept constantly blowing, and messing up any ability to focus on the moon while it was at its absolute reddest. I figure if there was souped up video, there would be a chance to carve out good some video stills. Unfortunately we don't have any cameras that take hi-res video that can zoom to the focal length necessary to make a good pic.

Sorry to hear about your cloud cover prym, BTW, what were you shooting with?

I was thinking about video, too: if I could have shot high quality video, perhaps the clouds moving across the moon would have been a better takeaway, as a movie vs. still. I shot with an Olympus EM1with a vintage 50-200 Oly zoom plus 1.4x extender and adapter.

Nice SX40 shot!

I had spent four days at my cottage and was driving home southbound on I-75 crossing the Zilwaukee Bridge spanning the Saginaw River when I saw the rising Moon and the shadow of my Wrangler at sunset. I had maybe 20 seconds to get this at 70 mph so I just just shot it with my phone making sure I was between light poles and power lines. Cops may have had an issue if I had stopped on the bridge to compose a better image...

Best I got as I had to work when I got home, and it was about -2ยบ F at home last night anyway.

I didn't bother taking photographs yesterday or today as it pretty much looks the same as others I've already taken from the vantage point at my home. Here's two from 2/28/2018 taken with the SX50 on tripod:

I was watching TV and pretty much forgot about it. When I realized that we had a clear night, I popped outside and saw a sliver of the sun reemerging on the moon, by the time I found cameras that had batteries ind cards in them, the end of the eclipse had already quickly progressed. This is the best that I was able to get, both handheld.

Sony RX10-4:

Canon SX-50HS. Unfortunately, the Canon exposed for the brightness, so this looks like just about any other moon shot.:
