Man attacked by mountain lion then suffocates it in self defense

Can't imagine being in a situation like this. Must have been a very long couple of minutes fighting back then waiting for the lion to succumb.

I've been fortunate to have seen three mountain lions in the wild...incredible animals!

UNFRICKENBELIEVABLE!

Especially because cougars tend to attack from behind. The victim usually doesn't know what hit them. This guy must be very skilled and is certainly very lucky.

Just to get an idea of what this guy went through, once again... here is a video of a VERY pissed off mountain lion stuck in a bear trap getting assistance. It's poop your pants scary.

I was never attacked by Mountain Lion. I went from Snow Leopard to Mavericks.

They ain't decreasing around here... They've more than doubled population in the last 20 years. Now, as to whether they are the exact same subspecies? Couldn't tell you... but we have WAY more mountain lions than we used to.

The sad truth is that when humans force nature to co-exist - instead of the other way around - and as we see increasingly happen when we attempt gentrify the woods and what were formerly our wild lands - we will continue to see disastrous results.

More and more pressure from human development and activity in mountain lion habitat.

Increasing mountain lion population due to changes in laws about hunting them, especially by running them with dogs, which is a highly stressful and damaging experience for the lions.

Younger, less dominant, or older mountain lions in the best areas can be pushed into less favorable habitat, often putting them in closer contact with people.

Declining prey base due to habitat loss, drought, and mismanagement.
