Changing Movies in Flash (v.4)

Can anyone tell me how to close one movie (.swf) and go to a second movie (.swf) in Flash? I can open up the second movie but the first movie also starts replaying along with the second.This is an older version of Flash (4). Thanks. I've gone through 3 manuals.

something like

loadMovieNum("secondmovie.swf", 2);
stop();

should load the 2nd movie into a new level (2) on top of 1st and then stop the one underneath

is that what you are trying to do?
