The herd returns.

I've been having elk on my street 2-3 times a month lately. Sometimes a solitary animal, sometimes a dozen or so and sometimes around 40-50 like this evening. They seemed to be kind of nervous this time, not grazing so much and they looked like they weren't sure which way to go. Eventually they moved up the street.

These are about half the number of animals that are frequently seen in a field about a mile away from me. I'd actually prefer they not come into residential areas. I'm sure Fish and Game is probably monitoring their activity.

On the outskirts of Crescent City, CA - on the coast 20 miles south of the Oregon border.

Well, their usual pastures are probably underwater... cut ‘em a little slack! At least until prairie creek is more prairie, less creek!

Hope you’re staying dry up there!

I thought this thread was going to be about Peter Frampton teaming up with his former bandmates for one last tour. Bummer it wasn’t...

Why doesn't someone take pity on them and tell them where the nearest Lodge is? They obviously can't find it.

I KNOW I've read the name, Lee Sklar on record liner notes so I looked up his wiki page - MY GOD! This guy is on 100s of well known albums. Skimming the list... I probably owned a couple dozen records with him on it. Russ Kunkel too - I bet that's a great band...

steve…, thanks for that photo. I had been reading about Native Americans in my area using coastal terraces to corral the elk herds and it helps visualizing it after seeing your photo.

With the exception of Steve Postell saw them many times with different headliners. Great band. Just got a new Linda Ronstadt CD from the 70's. They backed her too.

Are you kidding? You've got to realize that Santa Claus is somewhere nearby. Shame on you for wanting to eat Santa!

Sadly, my elk skin gloves were stolen about three years ago, and have not been replaced yet.

That herd of elk beats the gang of 28 turkeys that spent the day in my friend's back yard.

Mmmm, elk skin gloves. I have been scouring the local cheapo places for goat skin gloves, which I can pick up for anywhere from &4 - $8 pair, but of course they are of varying quality for that amount.
