How bizarre. Alex Trebek still pitching life insurance

I swear I'm not making this up. The second commercial in the second break on Stephen Colbert's Late Show on Friday night was a full Minute and a Half spot for Colonial Penn Life Insurance, starring the probably-soon-to-be-deceased Alex Trebek

actual screen shot

Does this impress anyone other than myself as being slightly bizarre?

Good luck with that 'life lock', Alex....EEEWWW!

I saw those ads too, struck me as rather morbidly ironic.

Well, I don't think they're going to get much play after he passes on..... And I presume they already paid him a handsome sum for his endorsement, so - no harm, no foul?

In one context it's morbid and bizarre.

In another, who better to pitch life insurance than a dying spokesman, assuming most of the target demographic knows he will pass soon.

What would really be ironic is if Colonial Penn refused him coverage.

Was going to note that Wilford Brimley is still hawking subscription medical supplies and prescription drugs and he's long dead.

...Except that I just found out that he's still alive.

He has cancer, and he has a cancer with a very low survival rate, but he's back to hosting Jeopardy, and has declared that he intends to try to beat the odds, and survive the cancer.

He's not dead yet!

Yep, he looked 70 when he was 50!
