Haven't been to a fast-food joint in a long time. On the rare occasion I go to the bank, I use the drive-up teller, only because the dog gets her biscuit that way.

Fast food - Drive through. Because you get faster service.
Bank - usually walk in because I like talking to an actual human being.

I drive-thru 99% of the time except when I use Apple Pay Mobile Order at McDonald's.

Then I go in as I have yet to trust timing my order to be ready at the drive-thru.

Never use a drive through teller. No particular reason, just never have had the need to sit in a line of cars, rather than in a line of people inside. The wait seems to be about the same.

For fast food, it depends on where, and why I'm there rather than getting "good" food. I'm usually getting fast food because I'm in a hurry, so will often use the drive through.
If I'm not in a hurry, why would I eat FAST food rather that something better?

Banks - As long as everything is ordinary, drive-thru. If there's anything odd or that I may have a question about, I go in rather than try to negotiate to a faceless, tinny speaker.

Fast Food - I often go in in order to minimize the loading of the drink with ice, when the drinks are self-serve. Or, if I have a coupon or other special request--I don't like to negotiate with a faceless, tinny speaker.

Interesting choice.

We don't have drive-through banks around here, though I usually park and use the ATM (though more often I use the ATM at the supermarket rather than going to the bank).

I avoid fast-food joints like the plague. I suppose if I was forced to go to one (i.e. starving and no other choices) I'd probably go in. Who wants greasy stuff all over the car?

I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

Not that I frequent fast food places often, but I've found that when the drive thru line is really long, there's usually no customers inside and it's much quicker to park, go in, and order to go.

I rarely use drive thru in a bank. My one credit union has an ATM inside the building where I work, and my transactions with the other credit union are usually complicated enough that they require face to face interaction.

I frequent them all the time.

The lines are usually quick, though I do avoid lunch and dinner times.

The only place where I know there'll be a line is at El Pollo Loco. They're rarely short, then I drive-thru.

But I usually just go in as it is faster than a long drive-thru line, and I can get my Senior Discount.

I hate the drive through at fast food places. I try and go inside 90% of the time.

I usually order something out of the norm (extra "sauce/mayo" or no mustard or light ice) when doing fast foods and want to kinda see it being made to make sure it is reasonably right,

Also helps the time go faster when u can see what's happening.

And miss the ambience of a fast food restaurant? Seriously though, it depends on the situation. If I'm only getting coffee, am in a hurry or just want to stretch my legs, etc.

Always drive-through at my credit union if possible.

I recently received a refund check for about $4 that I was planning on depositing at the drive-through. They now have a mobile app that let photograph the check and deposit it without making a trip to the bank. Ain't technology great!

Don't like fast food, so very seldom go (the 1-2 times a year it usually while I'm on a roadtrip, so drive through it is unless the wife is along, then it is a bathroom stop for her)

Banks, unless I need to talk to a specialist, it is online.

98% of my banking is on-line, maybe 1.5% at a cash machine. Maybe see a credit union employee once a year.

For fast food if its just me I usually run in to use the restroom THEN order. If my partner is with me maybe 50/50

I never use the drive through teller from a car, but sometimes use it on foot, it's very close to the normal walk-up ATM, and if the line is long and there are no cars, I'll walk over to the drive through.

agree smiley

I managed a fast food location with 3 brands under the roof for 2 1/2 years. Totally ruined fast food for me. I never want to eat it again.

Banks 100% I go inside

Fast Food 99% I go inside. The 1% of time when I use the drive thru it is because the lobby is closed.

I'm a total weirdo; haven't been to a fast food place since the mid-70s in high school. I should probably break that cycle and go eat a burger or something at Wendy's one of these days.

Things I hate - when the place gives priority to the drive thru, and leaves the schlubs inside waiting. And that happens waaaaay too much.

if those places are anything like Starbucks, workers are under tremendous pressure to keep "at the window time" down during peak. 40 seconds or less. we have timers that track how long you took to order, how long your car has been waiting in line, and how long you were at the pay window. corporate only monitors DT not the people in the cafe. we are supposed to alternate cafe, DT, and mobile orders but cafe will get the short end of the stick in crunch time because pressure from above has clearly stated where the priority really is.

as for why the emphasis on DT - look how many folks answered they prefer not going in. i prefer drive through as my car is much more comfortable than the tables. i'll only go in if i order something that needs a table like pancakes.

as for banks, i rarely go to them as i have either direct deposit or mobile deposit. if i need to deal with cash it's a DT ATM as i have the type of account that penalizes you for using teller services.
