“Our freedom, our liberty, is a very expensive proposition both in treasure and in blood and the folks in this country today are worth every bit of that.”
Charles Mohrie, (1921-2013), USAAF
I stumbled across his videos a while back. Just came across another one today looking for something else. When I originally saw it I thought I would just watch a couple of minutes of the video and wound up watching the whole thing as he was--spinning his talk sometimes with humor, satire, stories, poetry, and the horror of war.
He was known for his volunteer work at the
Frontiers Of Flight Museum in Texas.
"Charles D. “Charlie” Mohrle volunteered thousands of hours over the past 17 years to teach younger people about the price of freedom, a lesson he learned flying 97 combat missions in Europe during World War II.
He had spent more than 12,000 hours as a Frontiers of Flight docent since the museum moved to its present location in 2004 and many more hours making school presentations."
Unfortunately, Mr. Mohrie is no longer with us.
He has several videos on You Tube and if you are interested in his story you can watch a long version
here or a shorter version
here. Anybody that uses a 50 cal. bullet as a pointer probably has a good story to tell.
