I have yet to experience a rip, but with my current waistline, my trousers have started to fall down at unfortunate times.

My arms were full of heavy recycling materials at the local recycling center, when my trousers dropped with no warning. With my arms full, there was little I could do other than shuffle forward. My wife went into hysterics, losing her posture from laughing so hard. Unfortunately, that drew more attention to us than I would have liked.

You're lucky you weren't arrested.

I had a pair of new Carharts that the zipper failed. Had an awkward interaction with the cashier at Coastal Farm and Ranch explaining why I needed to exchange the pants I was currently wearing and why she couldn't have them until I had selected a suitable replacement pair...

Been there, done that, too. Currently happens more often than I'd prefer since I've been losing weight as of late. Definitely particularly annoying when it happens as I'm carrying Little M (who's fallen asleep in the car) from the car to our building.

It's a struggle holding Little M as I'm trying my best to retrieve a set of keys from the back pocket of my jeans, which are already on their way past thighs. Then, I've got to hope they don't slide down entirely as I unlock the door of the building and make my way into the lobby...

You'd think waking up Little M and making her walk would help but it doesn't. It only makes the situation worse. An upset toddler only increases the level of aggravation and embarrassment.

I have kept a small sewing kit in my desk for decades. Buttons, clothing emergencies, etc.

Perhaps the thread title should say “accidentally rip”. “Mistakenly rip” implies that there are situations in which the intentional ripping of pants would occur. Not sure what those situations would be. And I hope to never find out.
