Need advice 3.5" TIVO HD Compatible HD, any size will do SATA, I believe

I would like to pick up one or two cheap 3.5" drives that are compatible with the video process on the TIVO HD. Yes I know the Tivo HD is getting old. But I have 3 that are lifetime, and I just connected to service 2 of them, and one of them is just powering on, and rebooting to the same process.

Any idea where 3.5" Data drives that video compatible are available for a good price?

Thanks..

I do have my old setup with a PC, where I can reload an image that is compatible with drives, and I believe it could be any size. Just need to get the thing running.

SATA;, I believe...

Do you need SATA or PATA?

Do you have the TiVo software to install on the drive?

If not, you may wish to get a pre-formatted drive

For a TiVo HD, either buy a WD green or WD USB drive and toss the enclosure (probably cheaper to go the USB route). Given the 2TB size limitation I mention in the next post, it's unlikely you'll find a 2TB 3.5" external anymore. I would just buy whatever internal you find at a price you can live with. You'll pay a premium for a drive labelled for "video" use.

Note that there may be size limitations to "any size". I haven't kept up with the TiVo HD size limits since I moved to Roamios. You may just need a newer copy of MFS Tools to deal with larger sizes.

Yup, looks like the size limit for TiVo HD is is 2TB per MFS Tools and the fact that Weaknees doesn't sell any single drive solutions larger than 2TB.

I've got several 2TB WD Green drives that I could sell you cheap. PM if you're interested.

The WD AV-GP is a type of Green drive that works perfectly for DVR purposes.

Seagate purple drives work well in this setting, too.
