Lord preserve us and protect us, We've been eating pizza for breakfast

"Pizza Is a Healthier Breakfast Than Cereal, Nutritionists Say"

' Amer credits the high sugar content in most cereals for its poor reputation, while The Daily Meal adds the lack of protein and healthy fats are contributing to its "nutritionally bleak" standing. "You may be surprised to find out that an average slice of pizza and a bowl of cereal with whole milk contain nearly the same amount of calories," Amer told the site. "However, pizza packs a much larger protein punch, which will keep you full and boost satiety throughout the morning."
While it still might be a little far-fetched to call your early morning pizza indulgence a healthy option, it's definitely healthier. That counts for something, right!? Amer does credit its protein content and admits, "a slice of pizza contains more fat and much less sugar than most cold cereals, so you will not experience a quick sugar crash." '

Cold Pizza and warm beer - the breakfast of ex-champions.

That said, I've been eating good old Shredded Wheat recently. All I can say is it has become a "regular" thing.

Used to be a place in town that served a "breakfast" pizza -- owner made them cheap from leftover dough not good enough for his regular pizza.

They were delicious.

I've known this for decades. From '86 to '92 I was head driver and driver trainer for Domino's in Seattle. I usually worked 5pm to closing. I had an almost unlimited supply of mistake pizzas in my fridge at our apartment. I just rotated the freshest to the bottom. That and my keg cooler made it THE place to hang out. Anyway, cold pizza on the way to school in the morning was the perfect solution. No crumbs or any real falling debris from cold pizza. The protein and fat really hung with you and gave long term energy.

I love cold pizza and a Diet Coke for breakfast. When I've had it, it's always happenstance. I may start doing it on purpose.

I think I might have first had pizza for breakfast after I got my drivers license. If I was heading home at the right time on a weeknight, Winchell's donuts was across the parking lot from Round Table. It was 50:50 chance on getting day old donuts for half price, or splitting a large pizza to eat half then and half for breakfast.

Pffft... a piece of pizza is a FINE choice! A good combo pizza with vegetables... hot that up in a cast iron pan. Excellent, nutritionally balanced, breakfast.
Eating an ENTIRE pizza, on the other hand... that's not so great.

There's a reason ads say "part of a complete breakfast;" cereal alone is not enough. A small portion of whole grains along with a protein/fat source (fried eggs perhaps) is better.

A single slice of pizza would be OK if the bread is whole grain, in my opinion.

Yeah, the idea that there is "good food" and "bad food" is absurd.

The "Washington Diet" that is carb heavy gave us an epidemic of obesity and diabetes.

Yeah, i usually make a pizza big enough so I can have leftovers for breakfast. People saying it's terrible -- how so? I guess if you smother it in cheese or meat, which I don't. My favorite cereal's tasty, goes better with coffee, but it's dumb, nutrititionally speaking. The whole American notion of Breakast Foods is weird.

Nutritionally bleak, my @$$. What could be better than a complete breakfast consisting of a big bowl of sugary cereal with whole milk, two slices of white toast with a few pats of butter, a big glass of orange juice from concentrate and another glass of whole milk. Maybe take a frosted pop tart with you as you head out the door to hold you over until lunch.

Speaking of lunch, next they'll be trying to tell us that a baloney sandwich and a carton of chocolate milk is healthier than a Hostess Honey Bun and a Chilly Willy.

There is no "unhealthy food".
There IS improper dosages, and improper proportions.
ALL food is "healthy" when consumed in proper proportions.

Actually, that is not the case. There is a difference between foods.

There is a new study that shows that eating highly processed foods leads to calorie gains.

An earlier study linked highly-processed foods with cancer.

And WHOOSH went the point, right over your heads....

It's about the AMOUNT you eat of them. Don't have pizza for breakfast every day. Or even every week.
No problem.
