Actually, the CVNs are usually the fastest ships in the carrier group.

wut da 'ell ya talkin' bout?

I just looked up USS Ronald Reagan (GRHS) and it'll do 30 knots. That's good.

I've been on the LHD-1 and it says it's only good for 23. Hmm, for a small carrier, you'd think it could plow faster.

How does Vista stack up? After a couple of months of testing in the Fortune gadget laboratory, my verdict is this: Vista is definitely the best operating system Microsoft has ever made. (Mac users, stop snorting!)

heh.

Don't ask who the bell's for, dude. It's you.

Vista took more than 5 years. It is 4 years late, how could it have taken just 5 years? I guess they are only counting how many years it took since they started over...

What is your definition of a PEECEE...for many it USED to be INTEL BOX...now, I'm not so sure.

Even jobs referenced the macs as PC in the latest Macworld keynote.

I'm lazy, so I did not read the article, but eventually I'll end up using Vista. If not on my or work at home computer, then while I troubleshoot future client's shiny new Vista boxes.

I'm not terribly excited by this prospect, but then again, I'm not terribly excited about supporting Windows XP either. And when I get those occasional Windows 98/ME computers, I sort of roll up into a ball like a Puppeteer and simply wait until the danger has passed.

LOL!
There's a limited number of forum members that would understand that reference...
But I did literally "LOL"...

Paul F. thanks for understanding. I figured there would be enough people here who would recognize the reference and also appreciate the sentiment.

the CVNs are way faster than that when they want to be. That's all I am saying. I have friends who are engineers over at the Bremerton Naval Shipyards.

Same reason they say the top speed of the SR-71 is mach 3+

I never read The Gripping Hand or any other book written by both Niven and Pournelle. Damn you and your better references. I'll have to hit the library and go beyond the 6 or so Niven books I have read.

Are you trying to prune the forum of some undesirables?

Reading this review reminded me of how low the expectations of people who use (and review) Windows are. I just don't get it.

MS has done its work well.

If I am using a non Apple PC, then I would go with a Debian based Linux distro or maybe one of the friendly BSD "distros" (I believe usually built from FreeBSD). Vista is not on my radar.

Again, I'll be working with Vista as a part of my part time troubleshooting gig, but Windows for personal use...no.
