That's good to hear -- I was (perhaps irrationally) fearful that this movie might be a less-than-top-quality effort designed to make a fast buck on the sterling reputation of the TS franchise.

Yes, good to hear. I read a mostly positive review from a sometimes ornery critic.

I didn't care for TS 3, but it wasn't terrible. Then again, I only saw it once—not 237 times like Toy Story 2. Or at least I saw the opening sequence with my toddler about that many times.

Will have to see if we can get the whole family to see this one together this summer.

It is what it is.

A youngster (well, she was born the same year Toy Story came out) asked me the other day why TS4 is just coming out now. My only answer was that Pixar has always treated this franchise as something truly special. It was groundbreaking when the original premiered because of the CGI tech used to make it, but what made it a smash success was the storytelling. I think they decided a long time ago that sequels would only be made if the Story in Toy Story was one worth telling. So far, so good.
