My new place mysteriously does not have a single energy efficient bulb throughout. Light bulb shopping time. I tried a daylight bulb and found it too yellow. Daylight is too blue. Maybe I'm overthinking this.

2700-3000k, depending on application and location. Daylight bulbs are painful.

I have some lamps with 5 bulbs, 2, 3, 5, OFF. I usually put 2 soft, 3 daylight. I. For relaxed atmosphere we use 2 soft. For reading, etc we use 3 daylight. For very bright lights we use all 5.

I mix them also. I found the soft white were too yellow, and except where I needed a bright light for reading, those were too much towards blue for being accustomed to incandescent bulbs. So for most places use one of each.

my reading lamp is 3500K.

Kitchen, Dining, Hallway 3K. Bedrooms and bathrooms 2700
Bright white is what we found comfortable.
The 5k stuff is/was too blue.

3000K and below is too yellow for me

5000K starts to get too blue.

I've got Hue bulbs so I'm probably at 4000K, best guess.

The wife really doesn’t like the daylight bulbs, so 3000 is as high as we go, with 2700 a better bet for spousal approval.

I noticed that my generation prefers warm light, mimicking incandescent, while my kids strongly prefer bright white or daylight. I wonder if it is a universal generational thing, based on what we are (and are not) used to...

Dining room has 8 edison style LED bulbs, around 2200k, kitchen and other areas are 4000k and the bathrooms are 3200k except for one that my wife picked a yellow and after painting decided it was too yellow so I put in 5000k bulbs which tone down the yellow and save me from repainting the bathroom

2700-3000K, and depending on the time and area, I might bump them up to 5000K for daylight (this is usually on some recessed ceiling in soffit-type locations where I want it to appear and feel as if there is a skylight. Works great.

Also adjust the color (RGB) sometimes for special occasions.

Most (relaxed) living spaces are 2700K (living rooms, bedrooms, etc.) and then I keep it 3000K in the kitchen and other more common/open gathering spaces. I will sometimes bump lights above kitchen windows and some adjacent windows to 5000K to show more 'daylight' coming through.

Garages and storage areas have 5000K daylight bulbs to keep things vibrant and fresh, especially helps if working in there during the night.

I use 2700's mostly inside the house. 5000k outside for yard lighting that I leave on all night. It seems like the Daylights get more lumens per watt.

2700K, less eyestrain with less blue. However older eyes do prefer some more blue as the lens yellows over time. Not yet for me.

But please never use 5000K bulbs outside at night, these are the absolute worst for wildlife. We have a full cutoff 3000K 5W bulb as our only always-on light.
