Trying to get an old Samsung ML-2525W to print from a Mini running OS 10.14.6.
What is the simplest SW to set up and use?

I am not familiar with that model but usually you should install a driver if OS X does not see the printer.

Your Samsung printer should work with Apple AirPrint. First down load the latest drivers from Samsung. It also ships with Wifi-Direct turned on. It must be turned off prior to installing it for a wifi network connection

Here are some directions I saved for installing my Samsung laser printer:

1. Printer must first be connected to network with ethernet wire to router.

2. Open system preferences/Print & Scan/add printer.

3. Log into router and find printers IP address. (SetIP app can also be used to find printer ip address)

4. Open a browser window and enter IP address. Click Login. ID: admin Password: sec00000

6. Navigate to Settings / Network settings / Wi-Fi Direct and turn off. Hit Ap

7. On the same page go to AirPrint and enable. Hit apply

8. Connecting with wifi can also be set up on this page.

Upon further review, I think your right, your model does not support AirPrint. Good luck.

I use Printopia for one printer I have that is not AirPrint compatible. I bought it years ago and has always worked great.

Not free, but works as advertised.

EDIT - May not work as you are wanting. I was thinking you were printing from an iOS device. Saw Mac mini as iPad mini.

I never had problems with that printer using IP printing.
