Any fisherman types - trying to identify a (shell)fish type

Anyone know what these white things with pink at the end are in the middle box on the bottom of the picture?

We saw them at the Venice fish market, but didn't think to ask what they were and now we aren't in Venice anymore.

Thanks!

Yep, shelled scallops. Also known as Canestrelli Sgusciati in Venice that translates to "pilgrims scallops."

Commonly served sauteed with garlic, parsley, olive oil and lemon.

I'm gonna go way out on a limb and say giant barnacles out of their shell.

To me they look more like folded-up squid than anything else, but honestly I haven't a clue and look forward to a positive ID.
