no. You don't have to wall mount ANY TV.

don't know offhand.

On 11/24/2006 the Olevia 42" LCD was 999.00 - 200 rebate. And that is the way it was the shopping day after Christmas. (MIcrocenter) Using that as a guide, I havent seen anything as low since. Although the quailty (Backlight, Customer Service) of Olevia leave something to be desired. Although most companys fit that description. I have that one, and currently don't have it mounted, but I would like to. Just no time yet. And I want to make sure I have the bugs worked out, and the cables the way I like, etc.

I have been shopping for a bit for the same size LCD. I am leaning towards the Samsung at this time. Seems like a nice value for money price point without going to the lesser known brands. It looks great in person.

Good luck.

I doubt that you "have to" wall mount any LCD tv; although
most probably have instructions and some "hardware" for it.

Let me give you one warning. I recently bought a SOYO 32' LCD and
chose it partially due to a nice 90$ putative rebate. However,
despite several emails and attempted calls (with no call-backs)
after 4 months I have yet to receive 1cent! I found a thread at
fatwallet.com specifically about this company and many other people
sharing my experience with SOYO to the point of contacting the Calif. Att. General.
MY POINT -be careful about buying a LCD TV based upon price and
rebates alone -check out the company (and quality) first, unlike some
fools (like me).

You've just described the value equation. Price does NOT equal value. Be careful about buying ANYTHING based upon price and rebates alone. There's a scammer born every minute, and he'll find a way to make you believe you're buying a TV when you're actually not. (HDTV in big letters with "monitor" or "ready" in small letters is a great example.)

Sorny, Magnetbox, Panaphonic--all the good brands.

My question is what the heck is with all these new brands that are popping up? Hannspree? Pro-Video? SOYO? Where did they come from, who makes them, reliability? They've seemed to have just come on the scene within the last year or two. I haven't seen any of these brands in Consumer Reports and no ads to speak of. I would steer clear of them just on principle alone...

Elmo

Actually the TV itself isn't bad at all. It's just that for the ACTUAL
price I could have gotten a bit better quality. I freely admit that I didn't
do an adequate job of researching the company and their financial
practices.
