Sign up via 'straight' ISP connection. Then you can switch back to VPN.
I had to 'verify' myself with CU, Apple, Proton eMail, & AMZ via text msg. but after that,
no problems. It's like the first time I used my new iPad (straight IPS), I had to confirm the device
with many websites I have credentials with.
yeah, it's a PITA

I use PIA and the only real hang up is with Netflix. Also when creating a new account somewhere it’s more likely to trigger a Capcha. But I’ve never had a problem with FB or AMZ or nakedladiesdotcom
Ask PIA for support. I needed help because of email ssl certificates and they were fantastic

Some sites have a blacklist of IPs for some VPN servers. Mainly due to other users, also using those servers, that caused issues or some type of unwanted traffic to get them on the list.
Just change the server to another location (city/country/whatever) and then revisit the site and more than likely it will load fine. Happens often enough with VPN services.
