Still Crazy After All These Years--No Not That Song

Been watching the Ken Burns Country Music series.

Crazy

Number one jukebox song of all time.
Her Greatest Hits still the one of the best selling albums by a female artist.

From a NPR back story some more details behind the recording of the song.

They talk to some sessions players involved with the recording which included Owen Bradley's brother, backup group The Jordanaires, and a up and coming piano player at the time by the name of Floyd Cramer. They add some insight on the music they did. Plus more on the back story of how the song came to be recorded and sung they way it was. She really wasn't "crazy" about the song to start off with and especially the way it was sung originally by Willie Nelson (the writer) and the way Owen Bradley wanted it sung.

She did the vocals in one take.

The rest is history.

BTW: Living in Nashville I remember as a young boy hearing the news of the airplane crash.

She's great. So is the guitar player. Go to his YouTube channel and listen to his other stuff. You'll enjoy it.

I’ve been listening to them both for the last few weeks. They’re part of a larger group of young musicians that I think are pretty incredible. Another one is Reina del Cid.

Thanks for introducing me to the music of Allison Young; a truly wonderful and fresh talent.

Patsy's version of "Crazy" is one of my all-time favorite songs, but there was one time back in the '80s I saw Willie perform it on a TV show -- his interpretation just crushed Patsy's version. I have always lamented not getting a recording of that.

It is what it is.

Willie did his major hits on a radio show - maybe Fresh Air - live into the studio mic, and it was the best I've ever heard him. The guitar playing was unbelievable.
