Thanks! Now that I'm headed home, I can say that we spent the week in Chincoteague and Assateague, VA... which is where our honeymoon was. It's been amazing. Perfect weather, outside with horses most of the time, and we even got to bodysurf in nice waves. We got wood grilled pizza, truffles, and a very special beverage brought from home, and had those on our balcony over the water.

We'll be back in ten years!

We were there for the "swimming of the ponies" a couple months ago. Awesome area, tons of great restaurants, etc. Glad you had a great time, RFD!

Northern California Coast

Wow, dinerdave! We talked to some saltwater cowboys... We could see and hear ponies from our porches and balconies... that must have been amazing to see the pony swim. We just love it there. It's beautiful even without the ponies, but they're a huge bonus.

Locals told us that sometimes stallions swim their bands over on their own, at the wrong time. Once, this happened and the band was brought back to Assateague in a trailer, but the stallion brought them back across the water. By the third time, they just let them stay on the carnival grounds until the event! I loved that story!
