Data is seriously in need of some CGI, an android shouldn't age like that.

That's what I thought too, he looked pretty awful, unless it's intended as a flashback / memory scene ... in which case it's believable that Picard doesn't remember Data exactly the way we saw him (especially given his age). What argues against it being a memory/flashback is that there's another scene in one of the trailers where we apparently see Data as parts in a drawer...

I think it's a dream of Picard's, given that it switches from that scene to Picard in bed.

Some digital de-aging work is definitely needed. Make-up alone is not enough.

Will all depend on the script and the new and younger supporting cast. I like that it’s a Space Opera.

And fix the wig.

And fix the eyes. There's something particularly "dead" looking about the way they did him. I'm not convinced it's just a dream of Picard's, particularly because of the parts scene but also because they're bringing in all the old actors/characters (Riker, Troi, Seven, Hugh of Borg, etc.).

I will wait for it to be bundled on iTunes.

Speaking of which.....Eleventh Hour who has seen it?

It is $6.99 at iTunes. Four episodes @ a bit over an hour.

Probable that it is a (recurring) dream sequence, or perhaps a holodeck setup. Could also be B4.

Still and all; simplest explanation is that, since Brent Spiner ages, you write in an explanation: Dr Soong's emotion chip had a hidden sub-routine that would make Data age, so he could feel the full spate of emotions. Maybe even aging and pain. Whatever the case, it's easy to make it work.

And if it is the B4 android, reassembled (see below), you just say that the subroutine was part of Data's permanent programming and, when he transferred some of his "consciousness" to B4 in Nemesis, that subroutine was part of the transfer.

FWIW, I don't recall where I read it, but it's been said that the "Data as parts" we see in the trailer is not Data but specifically the B4 android, which was dismantled in the years following the events in Nemesis.

Skipping all the previous posts (I hate spoilers) I'm really interested in seeing how Star Trek: Picard holds up with the MRF fan base after a few episodes.

I'm in, no question.

I liked all the Treks, though D9 wasn't near the top of my list (bits were, but it jumped the rails).

I really, really like Star Trek Discovery, even though it's the Trek people love to hate. I am thoroughly enjoying it, plot holes and all. The cast it great; love the story lines. I'll be sad when Anson Mount leaves.

And then there's Michelle Yeoh...

so i'm checking into CBS All Access and i see there are two subscription levels. is the one with limited commercials for $5.99 like Hulu-length 2 30 second ad commercials or conventional TV commercials that add 20 minutes or more to an hour of viewing?

When was the last time you watched Hulu?

They've got more ads than legit content for most shows.

Shouldn't that be 'CBS Limited Access'?

I haven't watched any new Star Treks since the series featuring that female captain with the buzzy voice—'Voyager'? Didn't know about the 'Discovery' series, though if RAMd®d says it's good, maybe I should take a look.

Currently my wife and I are working our way through the original ST, about to begin Season 3. Then we figured we'd go back and watch all the TNGs again; it's been some years. Have to admit, some of the originals were pretty hokey. Hard to imagine veteran SF writers could come up with real Romans on a remote planet.

i watch Hulu a lot and it is no-where near as obnoxious as conventional TV. i do think that varies by shows, though so maybe it's just my selections.

Sorry Zoid, not buying any of that. It was explicitly stated that Data doesn't age. At one point he even has a 500 year old head. As for B4 ... they;'ve also said that it is NOT B4 who is appearing, rather it IS Data. I'm definitely getting the feeling of them totally disregarding canon, as they've done with the dumpster fire that is STD.

In All Good Things, Data added a shock of gray to his hair to give himself the appearance of age. Maybe this time he just takes it a little further by adding a few wrinkles and skin tags. Or, perhaps he discovers an aging subroutine that Dr Soong hid in there. Or, maybe exposure to radiation during a subspace warp core breach damaged his artificial skin. There's always a way cause it's all fake.
