I have some copies of a copy of a copy of...some music in standard notation.

Is there something I can use to scan this and clean up all the garbage that has accumulated on this hand me down?

I know it would import music and then print the score. That was like 2 decades ago.

Finale used to (likely still does) have some OCR software bundled with it. Any time I tried it, I spent as much time fixing the results as I would if I had just entered it myself from scratch.

That said, Finale is the “standard” for music notation right now. Sibeleus was (arguably) on par for many years, but the software was sold and left to rot.

Short of Finale, there’s a watered down version called Notepad, as well as several online solutions. Those solutions may fit your needs, depending on what you need to do.

The "lite" version of that software has a reasonable price, but it's missing a lot of capabilities that I need such as reading slurs, triplets, grace notes, repeats, etc.

There is a freeware music creation software called MuseScore, but it's complicated, and I still haven't figured out how to do something simple such as beam a couple of eighth notes together!

In any case, what I'm currently looking for is OCR software for music.

A lot of scan software will clean up images-despeckle, etc. might becwort a try.
