No fun in Denver: Another Record Broken As Temperatures Plunge To Near Zero

Way too soon...

The temperature in Denver officially dropped to 3 degrees above zero early Wednesday morning. It was cold enough to shatter the previous record low for October 30 by 4 degrees. It was our third record temperature in 3 days and one more record is expected Thursday morning.

One final record is expected Thursday morning when the combination of clear skies, mainly light winds, and snow on the ground allows temperatures to plunge below zero along the Front Range. If the temperature manages to drop below -2° early Thursday, the all-time record low for October in Denver will be broken. That record was set on October 29, 1917.

With the extreme cold, police in the Denver area are warning residents not to leave their cars running unattended. Police in Denver received five reports of puffer vehicles that were stolen by the end of the morning rush hour on Wednesday.

The back-to-back storms that slammed Denver and Colorado’s Front Range this week brought a about a foot of snow. The first storm officially brought 3.8 inches while the second storm brought 7.7 inches. October 2019 is now the 12th snowiest on record.

Not just Denver, 22 F tomorrow morning in Lubbock, TX. They are lucky there isn't much moisture still feeding that storm, it's cold enough to snow over a large area.

-3 when I got to town this morning; -7 was the forecast. Last night, as I was about to go to sleep, I heard some whining outside and got up to investigate. Turned out to be two german shorthair pointers, who were obviously cold, and several miles from home. Younger, pretty, and sweet tempered. They were happy to see me, and thanks to solid I.D. on their tags, I was able to get them home quickly.

My dad sent a picture of snow on the ground at his place in Aurora, IL.

Only a coating, but still....snow before Halloween.

Denver is such a beautiful place to live.
Some unseasonably cold weather here and there is a small price to pay.

Denver's odd weather means it will no doubt have another 70 degree day this year.

Saint Cloud, Minnesota, where the weather is wonderful even when it isn't.

It's supposed to be 92 here today. But starting tomorrow, it'll cool down to about 80.

If it snows here the fire will just melt it all.
