Not very and only a tiny area (i.e. a good shake or single TP sheet will pretty much take care of it), and many of them have a heated air dryer.

After using a cheap bidet seat for a while, we graduated to the Toto C200 in our master bath, though that's about $300 on sale and is probably a bit rich for most people's blood. A fairly comparable non-Toto is the Bio Bidet USPA 6800U, which can be had for around $200 on sale. However, I suggest anybody interested who hasn't tried one yet start out with one of the very cheap cold water versions such as the Luxe Bidet Neo 120, which costs less than $30. The coldness of the water is actually not that big a deal since it is actually at room temperature. Ken Sp. recommended the Brondell Bidet - Thinline SimpleSpa SS-150 which is similar but seems a little more sophisticated. The only thing I didn't like about the Luxe Neo 120 was that the valve was rather touchy so you could get a higher pressure blast than you wanted if you didn't have a careful touch. I fixed that with a second valve at the tank connection to reduce the pressure available.

I encourage you not to be put off by the video posted by Rolando. That appears to be based on using a seat with the pressure too high.

One would have to balance the two supplies just as adjusting the shower. Start cold and work up.

Does the sprayer end of the bidet self-clean? Urine and feces splash around inside the bowl. Doesn't the sprayer get disgusting quickly?

On th electric models, yes, it is also covered when it recedes into the bowl. The issue I've found is that the air dryer can get wet with pee and then it smells like a big city subway stop. You have to spray with a cleaner manually, and do some scrubbing.

The manual ones also retract when not in use. I am guessing it is a spring mechanism holding it closed that uses water pressure to extend when turned on

Just like not many people, or maybe not everybody, have electrical outlets close to their car park or toilet.

But a lightweight hot water line could be run from under the sink to the bidet attachment, in many situations.

Not ideal, but possible alternative to installing an electrical outlet, at least in a DIY situation.

We've had a Brondell S1000 for a few years. $300 on sale at Costco sometimes. It is top of the line and wonderful. Remote control, continuous warm water wash, warm air dry, self cleaning, deodorizer, forward and rear jets.

Even on the cheap Luxe 120, the sprayer is hidden behind a little door when not actively spraying It also has a self-clean setting that flushes clean water down over the spray head. We've never had an issue and we clean it at about the same rate that the toilet bowl gets cleaned.

Note that if you have high water pressure, the bidet pressure can be too high and therefore unpleasant. Luxe sells an optional T-valve to install where the bidet line connects to the bottom of the toilet tank to address this problem. However, the Luxe version is a poor design that slows tank refilling. Instead of that, we bought this one which is vastly better: [www.amazon.com]
I recommend that you get one of these...it is easiest to install at the time you install the bidet because it simply replaces the plastic Luxe T-fitting.
