1) Fill kettle with clean, filtered water and place on burner
2) Turn burner on high, and wait for water to boil
3) Place tea cannister/tea bags in tea pot and pour in hot, boiling water
4) Wait 3-5 minutes to steep, covering tea pot with teapot warmer/clean dish towel

Hot tea is now done.

To make ice tea, use Pyrex pitcher, or equivalent, fill to 1/2 with ice cubes, and pour in cooled hot tea...do not pour hot tea over ice...will dilute tea and have unacceptable flavor.

Add mint and lemon to taste.

Or, you could just get that ever so wonderful "concentrated iced tea," add water, add ice for iced tea or nuke it for hot tea.

You know, I REALLY should take this time to point out that the subject of your post is rather misleading. In it, you asked about boiling water and making ice cubes.

In the actual post, you asked about making hot & iced tea.

So, which is it?

Do you just need to know how to boil & freeze water?
or
Do you need to know how to make tea?
or both?

How do you expect us to come up with a halfway decent answer when you've failed to provide a clear, concise description of your problem?!?!?!

In order to answer this correctly, I believe you'll need to answer the above questions in addition to providing us with answers to the following:
- a list of all your kitchen appliances, gadgets, utensils, etc.
- a thorough chemical/contaminant analysis of the water you'll be using (we'll need to know if it's tap water, bottled water, etc.)
- do you have hard or soft water?
- do you own a tea kettle?
- what TYPE of tea are you planning on using - bags or loose? De-caf? Brand? Name?
- do you have more more than one type of tea that you plan on using?
- what do you plan on serving your tea in?
- do you have an icemaker?
- do you have a refrigerator?
- a freezer?
- an ice cube tray?
- dish soap?
- spoons?
- will the tea be served with sugar? splenda? equal? cream? milk?

Really, BGnR, these are ALL important questions that you should have thought to address in the first place.

Or, perhaps, you should have STFF first instead of posting such drivel!

These are all excellent suggestions, but I'd wait until elmo weighs in with his ideas.

Lower the pressure in the kitchen until the water boils.

Well here's the recipe for ice...I'm still working on the one for boiled water.

"First and foremost, ice occurs naturally in the world - in the Arctic and Antarctic; in the form of glaciers, icebergs, ice sheets and ice caps."

Of course the second part of the Google search was "See results for: how to make meth"!!

It was only a matter of time.

I thought this post would be about whether cold water boils faster and vice versa.

To cool tea put in a sealed container and run cold water over it.

To add to Jack D's post, you can find boiling water in the wild in places like Yellowstone.

Not *my* wait.

On the other hand, now that the others have wasted time on this, time in their lives that they'll never get back...

Thank you for paying attention.

Of course, one wonders why he didn't just hit Google or something--after all, these things ARE available.

I'm waiting for someone to come in and ask how to boil water or make ice cubes.

Time for you to get checked for Alzheimer's and/or Senile Dementia, elmo.

You misread me. I wasn't really WAITING for it to happen; that's a figure of speech.

Or maybe y'all don't understand figures of speech. Wouldn't surprise me one bit.
