Nice how the things they 3d printed for less than a dollar are normally sold for $1k by the supplier.

Higher, the article says $11K. I think one difference between the parts is that from the manufacturer they're continuing to assume liability for the proper functioning of this life support device. With the $1 part there will be a lot of finger pointing if the equipment fails for any reason.

The story has been updated to state the company, Intersurgical, never threatened to sue. Rather, the duo requested the files and were told by whomever they asked that copying the device was illegal.
