May I go for a drive?

I haven't left the house in two weeks. Can my husband and I simply go for a drive? There are no restrictions saying we can't. I just want to be safe and cause no one else any harm.

I finished work (from home) a little early yesterday and took advantage of the 62 degree day to enjoy a nice 20 minute ride on the bike (motorcycle). Best way to enjoy some isolation. It was terrific.

On a side note, there were news stories this morning about so many people going out for walks on walking trails, parks, etc. that it sort of negated the whole social distancing rule. Yes, one can still keep a fair distance away, but many of the folks weren't.

CJ,

Depends. Here in NY, all non-essential businesses are closed. They've urged people to stay home as much as possible. However, that doesn't mean you can't go out. You can. You just have to use common sense. Social distance. If people move in your direction, then tell them to distance themselves and/or take action on your own to distance yourself from them.

In your case, there is nothing wrong with going for a drive. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean other drivers won't practice social distancing. I was on my way to my office and got tailgated twice. There's no excuse for it under normal circumstances. Now? While there are so few drivers on the road? Unreal.

Have some hand sanitizer with you when you're out driving. I needed gas yesterday and used it after I had replaced the nozzle on the pump.

Turn your cell phone off so they can't track you.

Went for a much-needed drive. So much green! I love seeing the different shades of green and the various colors of the trees' leaves coming out. And oh!, the redbuds! Marty and I drove down 122 to Burnt Chimney, took a right and came out in Roanoke, then back home to Bedford. The road from Burnt Chimney was an experience--twisting, turning, up, up, up, then down and around, 25 mph, 15 mph. New territory for us. I love exploring! Now I'm enjoying the birds and the breeze on the carport, 80 degrees, with a glass of champagne. Skoal! To life!

Went for a drive last Sunday. Wife had been stuck in house for couple of weeks. We visited some country churches. Mass is cancelled, but the churches are open for quiet contemplation. We sanitized after each one.

We waved to other visitors, kept distance.

Planning on seeing our son in College Station next weekend.
