Don't need it. The older I get the worse my gas gets. You wouldn't believe how often we're shopping, one let's loose and I make a quick escape to another aisle.

Now, masks to help prevent us from contracting it are OK, and not a display of ignorance and selfishness?
Every time I venture out, which is as little as possible, I see more and more people wearing them, and feel less and less good about venturing out.
But a boy's gotta eat.
I want to make a Costco run.
The last time wasn't bad, but for some reason I'm expecting it to be worse.
I guess I won't know 'till I try.

If anyone needs medical blue masks below is the link to an AliExpress vendor I've used a few weeks ago. These are not the fancy N95 masks. Just basic disposable surgical type masks.

A neighbor might not fancy my request, so I may have to snatch some off the line.

I saw a video on how to make a face mask out of a bandana and a couple of rubber bands, but it was on Facebook. I don't know if it's viewable to those who aren't on FB, but I'll post it anyway.

I think it is best to not view this as a partisan issue. Whether or not to wear a mask has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with science. Scientific findings always incorporate some uncertainty. It seems to me that the science is still out regarding the effectiveness of various kinds of masks and the uncertainty is high. However, the trend seems to be that something is generally better than nothing. Given that something costs almost nothing, why not go in that direction (i.e. wear a mask).
Ordinarily, I might agree with you. The problem though is a fundamental misunderstanding of the science and therefore whether or not a mask will protect you (or the people around you). N95's should really be reserved for medical personnel and those who are in close proximity to people who are infected, as well as the infected themselves, to prevent spread. This of course assumes the N95 is being worn properly and that the person knows how to put it on / take it off without contaminating themselves or the mask. Surgical masks -- the problem there is that they vary considerably in terms of manufacture, pore size, filtration capability, etc., but are substantially less likely to protect than N95's. It is therefore possible that someone gets a false sense of safety from wearing one of these, which might actually increase the likelihood of getting or communicating the infection.
