TOS had several different uniforms in its early episodes.

This one went away even faster (though they should have made Worf wear it at least once).

I remember this story, and the reason for the "Picard Maneuver"

"Spandex retains odor, so there is a certain part where if you’re wearing them for a long period of time, you can’t really clean all the smell out, and it becomes a little bit annoying. And it also retains the odor of the dry cleaning fluid. It is, on a day-to-day basis, unpleasant.”"

I knew a guy who was an extra on TNG for the first four seasons. He got the gig because he knew Jonathan Frakes and, more importantly, he looked good in the tight uniform.

Although frequently seen in the background, he had a single line of dialogue--and a screen credit--in only one episode.

Lemme guess, the uniform was red and his single line was "Ow!"

A great example of why this board needs a "like" option.

POMTL!

Nah, we don't need no stinkin' LIKE button.

There's a YouTube video each of the Picard Maneuver performed by Picard and Number 1.

It cracked me up.

I can't tell if the guy in Om's pic is wearing a Federation kilt, skirt, or culottes.

The stylish choice would be red to match the uniform, but I'm guessing it was black.

It's a cool uniform and probably a lot more comfortable than the ones that inspired the "Picard Maneuver", but the hemline is a bit short for work/day wear and you'd all but have to wear shorts underneath it to keep from inadvertently flashing your bits when you sat down or bent over. A similar uniform with a hemline that hit just above the knee like a kilt with some box pleats sewn in the black areas for freedom of movement would have been much more practical.

Why box pleats, you ask? Because they're a heckuva lot less hassle to iron and keep neat than accordion pleats.

That uniform was aborted for the Film Generations. They even made action figures with that uniform. They ended up using the TV show unis, as well as using the variation made for Deep Space Nine. The ACTUAL filming costumes. Riker used Avery Johnson's (Sisko) and Levar Burton (LaForge) used (O'Brien) costume, which fit him a little big.

EDIT. I do like the Original TNG Dress Uniform!

I think we talk about Trek routinely on this board. But, yeah, I was bored.
