Stupid Apple Watch question
Posted by: vicrock

I just realized that I can put an audiobook on my watch and no have to take my phone on my walk. Now, how to do it. I've followed the instructions I found - go to watch app on my phone click on audiobooks - but it doesn't give me the option to do anything but go to the audiobook store. I don't want to buy more books, I have a bunch already on my phone. Google says I'm supposed to be able to move the book I'm reading.

What app are you using for the book? I believe Audible and iBooks allow use on the watch. Libby does not.

To move an audiobook from iBooks open the Watch app on your phone and go to Audiobooks. This will allow you to select which books to transfer.
Go to Audible app to transfer books to the watch. Select the ellipses (...) next to the desired book and select “Transfer to Watch”

In the audiobook store of the watch app, click on "library" across the bottom to access your books.

I think it's better to ask Apple about that than Google. Here you go:

Neither of these pages is helpful - it sounds straightforward but when I open audiobooks on my watch app on the iPhone, I get "no audiobooks" You can choose to automatically download your current audiobooks to yiour Apple Watch, or manually add them from your library

Audiobook Store

There is no way to d/l the many books that reside on my phone to my watch on this screen.

Click “Add Audiobook”

On the next screen select the book(s) to add.

What iOS/watchOS are you using?

I'm at 13.4.1/6.1.3.

iBooks isn't on my 'Phone (SE) or Watch (S2).

On my 'Phone I have Apple Books.

In the Watch app I have Audiobooks (with the iBooks icon or similar)

On my Watch I have the Audiobooks app (in with all the other apps, it too has the iBooks icon).

Back in the Watch app, I go to Audiobooks, scroll down and under Want to Read, there's FROM LIBRARY, and under that there's +Add Audiobook... as shown on z's pic.

You don't have that. Do you have the Audiobooks app on your Watch? If not, you can download it from the App Store, on your 'Phone.

If you do have it on your Watch, then I'd try restarting both the 'Phone and the Watch. If that doesn't work, you could try:

unpairing and pairing the Watch.
Restore the Watch from backup
Restore the Watch as new (ouch)
