Quick & Dirty Way to Add Text to a Photo:

I'm making a birthday card for a friend. Is there a free app/site to add text to a photo that I could still save as a jpeg? i'm thinking i may have to bite the bulled and pay for the latest version of graphic converter.

Preview and photos will both do it on at least 10.14 on the mac

iPhone photo edit also has some quick and dirty editing options

Here's a short video showing two ways to do it with OS X's built-in "Markup/Annotate" feature (available in the last few versions of OS X, I believe):

thanks for that. i muddled around with Mark Up in Preview. couldn't quite get it to do what i wanted but I worked up something. Closer to the mark was an Adobe site called Spark which I'm not sure what the point is but I was able to cobble something there. gave the person who needed it for a card both versions.

also downloaded the latest Graphic Converter which i use so infrequently i forget how to use it and feel wasteful paying for it since i rarely need it - until i need it!
