Costco visit last night…

Costco/Instacart won’t deliver TP yet in the area I’m sheltering in place (La Habra Heights in the LA area), so I gathered up my courage and took a trip last night.

I was impressed by the labyrinth of portable fencing set up to accommodate the folks who really like to shop early! Got there about 7:30PM, got a space near the door. No line to get in. Only saw thirty is so people inside including Costco workers, glasses were too fogged from my mask to make an accurate count. No lines at checkout. I was impressed with the plexiglass sneeze guards at checkout and exit door.

TP, paper towels, vinegar, and beer easy as can be. Would have been even shorter time save for the aforementioned fogged glasses, I knew instinctively the TP would be at the back of the store. Although I didn’t fill up, noted no lines at the gas pumps either.

Not a bad experience at all!

Our costco the same way, about a week ago. Busier than yours, but we were there mid day.

Plenty of just about everything...

Glass fog -- get no fog from any SCUBA shop. I've also heard that shaving cream works too, but have not tried it yet.

It does. At least it does on bathroom mirrors.

I went to Costco last night also, 21 days since my last visit. With Washington starting to open back up, the local Costco went back to their regular hours of 8:30 PM closing from 6 PM. I went in about 8 PM and there were only about 30 customers in the store. This time they did not have a board listing items out of stock, but I did not see anything like bleach/cleaning wipes. They had several brands of toilet paper, but not the usual large stacks. The meat department had a noticeable reduction in products.

Thanks everyone for these foggy tips! Newt, do you rinse and let air dry with Dawn or let the Dawn dry on the lenses?

Dawn has been my favorite since I found out that it was bubble master Tom Noddy’s ( [en.m.wikipedia.org] ) soap of choice. He used to do street performances downtown before he became famous…

Tried to go to Costco here in Anchorage the last week, Thursday, mid-dayish. There was a line half way around the building and they were metering people in and out. I decided that I could go another time and hit the local Fred Meyer (Kroger) location for 95% of what I was going to get at Costco for 110% of the comparable cost.

Hit Fred Meyer again this morning, about 7:15 am shortly after open. Pretty quick in and out and shelves were full enough (still have plenty of Costco TP from the last go-around so I can't say that I looked otherwise.)

Remember - if your glasses are fogging up when you're wearing a mask, your mask isn't doing its job...

Your breath should be going out and coming in through the material of the mask, not under the mask and up to fog your glasses.

Yup. Place your glasses over the top lip of your mask. This does wonders when I run in the winter; very, very little, if any, fogging. Although this means I usually have to clean the smudges from the inner side of my glasses after returning from exercising.

I do put my glasses on top of the mask and even tried a tissue lining along the upper edge of the mask in hopes that technique would work. My nose, face, and head may be too damn big for a regular sized mask.

I have been wondering about the neck gator style in hopes my exhaust will exit near my neck. I have seen versions with built in ear-loops…

Given we will be masked for some time, I better come up with some solution.
