I just updated to iPad OS, and it really wants to do this now.

The options are "Not Now" or "Update"

I do not have a cell plan with this iPad, although it is a cellular model.

The OS seems pretty insistent about this.

What should I do?

what do you have to lose?

Yes, but I don't have a plan. I tether to my iPhone when I want cell data.

Just update it. It’s really an OS update masquerading as a cell company thing because it’s cellular capable and there’s a tweak that the assumed cell carrier wants to be in place, should you ever subscribe. Won’t make any difference to how you use the iPad. And yeah, it won’t go away otherwise.

I would guess that since it has cellular capabilities, it’s legally required to be able to make emergency calls with or without paid service.

....can you carry her [ carrier ] home.....????
