got my new (old) trackpad today

Wow, it is like being in heaven. I may feel like a dinosaur unable to evolve but I feel better anyway.

BTW, some people suggested I was applying too much pressure to the v2 trackpad and you were correct. Varying pressure did improve my experience but I still found it very difficult compared to the v1 trackpad. My wife suggested I estimate how many years I might live, divide by the number of years my trackpad lasted (7), and buy that many to store.

One concern I have is that my 2013 MacBook Pro won't be lasting forever and I assume the new model has a trackpad similar to the v2. So eventually I WILL have to figure it out. Thanks to everyone who listened to me rant.

Ukulele music I couldn't find anywhere else.

well, that is a very nice thought. But I would say whatever that N number is, buy N-1. do you think you really care about trackpad in the last 7 years?

ROTLF!!! Your wife is quite wise.

As for the Mac, when we shopped for my daughter's 13"MBPR for college 4 years ago, we made sure to purchase the last gen with the mechanical trackpad. She and I despise the first gen non-mechanical trackpad.

The saving grace of the newer trackpads on Apple laptops is they made them BIGGER. The issues seem to be less for me than on the first gen non-mechanicals.
