That's disgusting.
Not that I begrudge him his millions/billions/or soon-to-be trillion? Just that he needs to pay his FAIR SHARE in taxes.

Oh, I do! But I struggle with feelings that it doesn't really matter. That the vote is controlled by the 400 wealthiest, but that's a conversation for the other side, perhaps.

Most of his wealth is attached to Amazon stock, so it's paper wealth. If Amazon tanks, so does he. I watched a video on YouTube that discussed how the filthy rich operate their finances. They basically get a line of credit from a bank that allows them to have access to liquid cash. They settle up their bill with the bank at the end of the month like a credit card bill.

Cool website though.

He should pay his warehouse workers much more, and give them better working conditions. And......

"It's paper wealth." This is semantics. If he wants a yacht with a yacht inside it, he has no problem sourcing the cash. Tax bill? "Sorry it's just paper wealth."

I did some quick math back in the late '90s. Based on the escalating stock price at the time, I deduced that Bill Gates was making $38 grand a minute, 24/7. He made more taking a dump in the bathroom than I did in a year.

With Jeff, it the blink of an eye.

I have a feeling people like Jeff Bezos would rather he pay more in taxes. Unfortunately the tax laws have been set up in such a way by the rich and wealthy in general, to benefit them.

My favorite is the end where you can do all this stuff with all this money and those guys would STILL be billionaires.

You know, Bezos is richer than everybody because everybody wanted him to be rich.

For reference, here's a handy Wiki page regarding Amazon's tax policies and the dates. [en.wikipedia.org]

Nobody was complaining when Amazon wax EXEMPT from collecting taxes while they were Game of Throne'ing just about every brick and mortar bit of competition that tried to keep up with them and was REQUIRED to collect those taxes. Who could compete against that?

If I paid $1000 for a camera, I saved $100 by ordering from Amazon than from Joe the Camera Shop Guy. This was the majority of Amazon's existence. Circuit City could never match that.

Nobody wanted to pay those sales taxes so everybody just let it slide. Then everybody opines what Sears etc. could have done to not go out of business and not ever reference this.

Now he just got another massive tax break.

We live a country with people wearing some strange colored glasses.

I most certainly do begrudge him of that money. The only reason that these rich a-holes have obscene amounts of money is that they and their lobbyists have corrupted the laws in their favor. The reason that there is so much financial inequality in this country has everything to do with rich folks changing the rules in their favor and nothing to do with them earning it.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan
