If it's any consolation to you, we were 24° in Truckee last night. We're looking forward to daytime temps out of the 50's. It's time to get serious about getting things into the garden. Your mid-100's will translate to low 80's for us.

75º here in northern MI and I'm loving it!

Although, my little resort town has been invaded by downstaters!! There must be 3 times more people than a normal Memorial Day weekend. All of northern MI opened up yesterday. Restaurants are full, trail riders are everywhere!!

Back on topic, we are supposed to get close to 90º the middle of next week. Bring it, Summer!!

Mr. Lahey: Why don't you get a life Rick? Why don't ya go to community college like Julian here. Hey, I got a good idea. You could teach, livin' in a car and growin' dope 101.

Ricky: Hehe. And you can teach how to get drunk, get fired from the police force, become a... lousy trailer park supervisor that sucks, hangs around with a @#$%&' idiot that doesn't wear a shirt, and looks like a dick but thinks he looks good... 101.

Yeah, but low 80s is the highest Truckee will ever get =)

We usually go to Maui in June -- temps are 85 every day and 71 at night. And its pretty much identical for 60 days straight...

I cherish these times, and look back on them when we're suffering through sub-zero blizzards and you warm-staters blather on about "75 and sunny here!"

Didn't it snow there just last week? My bro has a place in Truckee, and his kid/grandkid gang were up there w/ snow pics. Sacto is known for sweltering its residents, so if the heat didn't come that soon, it woulda been there shortly.

Taken near south end of Pi'ilani Hwy, circa 2018...
so you can  feel the heat in Paradise, too.

Fortunately...we live in a lower part of Truckee. The snow melted on impact here.

My bad, I should have specified "the beach". We either go to Waliea or Kapalua.

My SIL lives in Makawao and has mentioned it gets hot there... but we are always at the beach. =)

Ok, to be fair, it was ‘only’ 93F at Wailea, which is straight down the road from the P hwy where I took the speedo pic....
But that’s still damn hot at the beach.
Our friends live in the ‘hood just above the end of the hwy, and look out over the Wailea resorts, Molokini, and Kahoolawe.

Can’t wait to get out of lockdown and go back there. Got eye surgery end of June, and should wait 4-6 weeks to fly, so hoping timing works out either before or after... then I have a ‘manly’ procedure that’ll likely knock out travel for the rest of the year, so I really want to squeeze Maui in. Island fever has new meaning this year.

88f here yesterday and about 63 today. I preder the 63.

Been out, I just don't like the heat. The heat keeps me in, not temperate weather. I'm still a New Englander in my temporal body.

Go jump in the Mystic, I heard it's almost clean these days.

We were young, stupid and sometimes would slog thru the muck that once bordered it, muck strong enough to suck the sneakers off your feet; in our brief lifespan we hadn't seen many jellyfish, in those days the river was loaded with them and at low tide, if you had no brains, you could walk barefoot through them - that none of us succumbed to something or other speaks a bit to heard immunity.

You keep that away from me, you hear! High today is 61°. We’ve had clouds almost the whole of this past week.

Saint Cloud, Minnesota, where the weather is wonderful even when it isn't.

Well, it’s a dry heat, I expect.

Here in Minnesota, the wife and I went for a walk yesterday and it was frankly uncomfortably warm. I asked Siri for the temp and she said 72.

Turns out the dew point was in the 60’s. Somehow, a thousand miles away from the nearest ocean, it can get nasty humid here. Must be the lakes.

that it is. ONE thing I dont like about the HI weather is the humidity. ugh.

Ive never lived anywhere with humidity... in CA we call it "muggy" and it only lasts for a day or 2 at most, maybe 1-2 times every year or every other year.

That's true first thing in the morning before it really heats up, or on those rare occasions where tropical moisture makes its way north into the valley.

At the hottest part of the day, the RH is typically below 15%.

It's going to be a pretty warm 8-? days around here, too.

This Old House had four episodes about the rebuilding of Paradise CA after the 2018 Camp Fire destroyed the town.

That was tragic.

The town was rebuilt with tougher safety standards but I don't know that I could stay after the Camp Fire and that it wouldn't happen again.

Did they include any additional exit routes?

Tomorrow 77 going down to 63 overnight. We have a smallish beach area but basically a working port town. On the other hand, we transship about a billion dollars a day worth of cargo. There is an inner beach which is inside the breakwater, and chronically fails the test for bacterial contamination; the outer beach is outside the breakwater and is clean Pacific Ocean water.

If they did, it wasn't mentioned.

There was footage from inside the town of cars using both sides of the roads trying to get out, only eventually to find the roads cut off and having to back into town.

And finally some agency's FD broke through and saved those who survived.

It was harrowing just watching the footage.

Being there... I can't imagine how they felt.
