I am not familiar with this brand, but I have some Fujitsu at work that are awesome.

It is a pretty decent price if it really has a SEER of 25 and they stay in business long enough to honor the warranty. A quick guesstimate is it should pay back the extra cost over a window unit in about 600 days of use. Just don't forget to consider the cost of having an electrician run a 240 Volt junction box for it if you don't already have one in the area you hope to place the condenser/compressor.

Put in a Daikin minisplit many years ago in my home office, which faces west and didn't have a lot of tree growth on that side at the time. Plus the old whole-house A/C was @#$%&, and this was furthest from the unit, so it was never cool in here.

I think we had one minor issue with it about 2 years after installation; the guys who installed it (independent contractors) came and fixed it quickly. There was one caveat; the way you determined the error was both the tone (pretty high pitch, about the same tone as my tinnitus) and frequency (like morse-code) of the beeping.

That's a @#$%& stupid and asinine system. Both the installer, a friend, and I are hearing impaired. Whoever designed that should eat some bad clams one day.

My friend gave them a lot of grief about that; offered to send them a page from his electronics catalog that sold those two-/three-digit LED displays for about a nickel each, for future units.

Still, beyond that issue; it has worked well and requires very little (as in; almost no) maintenance.

My son and DIL bought a used Thermocore mini split when they turned their attic into a nice large MBR suite. The Thermocore was in use at a school and became available when the latter renovated.

They had a local schmuck install it at their place (kind of a hack job) and in 2 years it has never worked. The biggest problem is that no local legit HVAC company wants to look at it because they don’t handle that brand and didn’t install it.

When I was down there last week, I took a deep dive on it, and found a service manual on line, poorly translated from the original Chinese. There was at least one bad sensor (high refrigerant pressure) and either a bad second sensor (low refrigerant pressure) or no refrigerant, or both. (When I bypassed both sensors, the unit worked, except it didn’t cool).

Armed with this knowledge, they were able to get the local HVAC people to come out. There was, in fact, no refrigerant. But before they can put more in, they have to check the whole system for leaks; $200 just for that. Then add any tubing and other part replacement, plus the refrigerant. And who knows if they’ll guarantee their work.

Anyway, my overly-long story has a point; make sure you get these things installed by someone local and reputable who is familiar with the brand and is willing to stand behind it, or you may end up with an expensive headache.
