.....'Manifest' renewed.........'Indebted' canceled.....

........also 'Bluff City Law' and 'Sunnyside' officially canceled [ these 2 were already presumed to have been canceled ]......

Manifest Renewed for Season 3

.....The skies continue to be friendly for Manifest.

NBC has renewed the supernatural-tinged family drama for a third season. The news comes exactly 10 weeks after the airing of the Season 2 finale on April 6.

Through its 13-episode sophomore run, Manifest averaged just under a 0.7 demo rating and nearly 4 million viewers (in Live+Same Day numbers), down about 40 percent from Season 1. But with Live+7 DVR playback folded in, Manifest‘s numbers swell to a 1.5 rating and 7.7 million viewers, enjoying as it does some of the greatest delayed viewing of any NBC program.

Among NBC’s 12 dramas airing this TV season, Manifest ranked sixth in the demo (behind This Is Us, the #OneChicago trifecta and New Amsterdam), while in total audience The Blacklist also slipped ahead of it.

Indebted Cancelled at NBC

.....NBC is getting out of Indebted, cancelling the freshman family sitcom after one low-rated season.

Across its 12-episode run, Indebted averaged a 0.35 demo rating and fewer than 1.6 million total viewers (in Live+Same Day numbers). Out of the seven sitcoms NBC aired this TV season, it ranked next-to-last in both measures, besting only the similarly cancelled freshman comedy Sunnyside. Debuting on NBC in February, Indebted wrapped up its freshman season with an April 16 season finale that will now serve as a series finale.

Adam Pally (Happy Endings) and Abby Elliott (SNL) starred as married couple Dave and Rebecca Klein, whose lives are turned upside down when Dave’s parents Debbie and Stew — played by The Nanny‘s Fran Drescher and Wings veteran Steven Weber — show up at their door broke and needing a place to live. Jessy Hodges (Barry) co-starred as Dave’s pet groomer sister Joanna.

We liked Manifest, and Bluff City Law, but never heard of the other two.

Bluff City Law, no surprise. It had the Smits Curse. [forums.macresource.com]

It will be very interesting to see how many "Police Dramas" survive in the next few months.

It will be... they certainly have a lot of potential for dramatic development, even an agent of change.

Chicago PD might be iffy.

Probably won't happen. Dick Wolf, who is the creator for a whole bunch of them, backs causes and people that don't think change is needed. Why do you think that all of these shows have noble police and criminals who supposedly deserve what the police do to them?

Dick Wolf neither controls nor owns any of the OTA broadcasters.
Big public corporations (Comcast, ViacomCBS, Fox Corp., Disney) do.
CEO's & Boards will do what they perceive their advertisers and viewers want them to do.

That is why I remarked,
It will be very interesting to see how many "Police Dramas" survive in the next few months.

Think less L&O SVU; more like SWAT, Chicago PD, Blue Bloods,
Hawaii Five O, or NCIS-LA (total fiction but lots of violence).
