AT&T Uverse $2200 per month

Had Uverse for 3 years and the "promotional" period ended. Bill going from $106 to $147, and they refused to offer any contract pricing. So I switched to Comcast.

AT&T tells me they cannot cancel service except a the end of the billing cycle and because I did not cancel the service until 2 days into a new billing cycle I owe $147 for the entire month. $147 for 2 days works out to $2200 per month.

That's BS. They can prorate the charges/refund. I would either escalate up the AT&T chain or dispute the last charge with your credit card company.

If you are on any social media platforms, drop a comment there and tag AT&T.

I like the dispute the charge idea. I'd let Visa fight with them!

deceptive title.

If they did pro-rate by the day, but you cancelled on June 1st at 12:05 AM, they would still charge you for the entire day, so you could some some math and you would come up with similar numbers.

No really, some companies do not offer pro-rated. I cancelled my Disney+, it was still active until the end of billing period. Same with some Amazon Kindle subscriptions.

This is a typical thingy with monthly service offerings. Earthlink did this for years until there were enough complaints - they eventually added an auto-shutoff at the end of the billing period, but NO WAY would they refund any portion of that money already paid. That was the deal you agreed to when you clicked ok way back when.

That wasn't fun dealing with those people.

Worse were the ones that signed up for service, got confused during the software installation phase and just walked away assuming that since they weren't using the service, they wouldn't be charged.

Which is what I'd want to know before taking any of this a step further.

I dislike it when a corporation operates outside their own contract to make some extra ching.

That also applies to people who try to get over on corporations or businesses because of any variation of 'they can afford it, they're crooks, why not me for once' BS.

If ATT actually owes, they should be made to pay.

If not, consider it a life lesson.

That's pretty unusual. Whenever I called, they always offered me a new discount to stick around.
