How do you get HBO? Stream it or via a cable provider? We subscribe via FIOS. Aa result, we now have access to HBO Max free of charge. Just had to plug in our FIOS credentials when signing up for it. And, the new Looney Tunes (as well as all the old ones) are awesome!

8. Better Call Saul (should be watched after finishing Breaking Bad)
9. Battlestar Galactica (reboot - a few years old but if you haven't seen it it's like a Shakespearean drama in space, not at all what most people expect in a sci fi series).

I can never remember what show is on what network so some of these might require that you go to Britbox, Acorn TV, or rent some items from your cable provider or iTunes or Prime.

How you stream HBO Max isn’t the same thing as how you pay for it. I stream HBO Max on my iPad via the HBO Max app. I don’t pay for it directly in the HBO Max app because I already pay for HBO in my FIOS TV package. HBO Max has more content than plain ol’ HBO or HBO Go/HBO Now.

I just finished that traveling biker series "Ride with Norman Reedus" that has both seasons available on Prime.

It's pretty good, as they travel to a lot of cool places and do a lot of neat stuff. I didn't think I would care for it at first, but I was drawn in and watched every episode.

It might not be your cup of tea, but then again...

I pay for HBO directly, so I have access to Max, sort of. The app isn’t available on the Roku yet, but I have it on my iPad.

Moone Boy - 2012 Brit series. 3 seasons. 6 eps per. Very funny.

I don't know where you can find it, but if you like Veep, you will adore The Thick of It (it's British prototype by the same guy, Armando Iannucci)

is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Hugh Abbot, played by Chris Langham, is a blundering minister heading the department, who is continually trying to do his job under the watchful eye of Malcolm Tucker ( a career-making turn by Peter Capaldi), Number 10's highly aggressive and domineering "enforcer". Prior to rehearsals, the scripts are sent to a "swearing consultant" in Lancaster called Ian Martin, who adds some of the 'more colorful language'. Capaldi's truly foul-mouthed enforcer makes anything on Veep look like kindergarten.

Veep is cute and clever. The Thick of It is fist-in-the-face entwined British humor at its best.

I'm a huge fan of The Mentalist, and liked Simon Baker since The Guardian.

It wasn't until the former that I found he was a Brit.

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Some great TV series, but may be hard to find:

The City & the City, a terrific sci-fi mini series based on the book by China Miéville
Hard Sun, another great police procedural/sci-fi series that was cancelled after only one season
SS-GB, an alternate history where the UK is occupied by Nazi Germany, also very well done
Closes to the Enemy, a UK WWII mini-series starring Jim Sturgess and Freddie Highmore
Condor, based Six Days of the Condor
QI, a quite interesting game show, very clever and funny
Line of Duty, a very intense procedural of cops investigating cops
Hannah, season two is just starting
Bodyguard

Less esoteric fare, but still well done:

Shetland, a great, intelligently written and acted police procedural, sans guns and car chases
Cardinal, another police procedural, in the moody, troubled cop vein, but still a good show
The Rookie, a pretty decent show where Fillion is a little more serious than Castle
Endeavour, though I think you may have seen it, and the last season seamed a little lacking
Mystery Road, a very well done, gritty Aussie cop show
Traces
Trackers

And of course, Monk.

Of course, there are lots of others, but these came to mind as some usually available on YouTube or Amazon. I don't have any of the other pay services, but am considering BritBox.

Two I haven't seen mentioned that I really liked a lot were The Durrells and The Detectorists, I think on Prime. No explosions, slow paced, and not dark like most of what we watch, Bordertown (the Finnish one), etc. We're actually watching the Heist (La Casa de Papel), and it's surprisingly good, although captioned. Sometimes silly, but really good.

Edit: Argh, Roger did mention the Durrells. Two peas in a pod, me and Rog.

The expanse is one of my favorites! Even from the beginning it can get confusing.

We just finished 5 seasons of Episodes on Netflix, with Matt LeBlanc. As long as you go into it knowing that Matt LeBlanc is kind of a tool, then you can enjoy it...because he is in this show...most of the time.
The series is about two british sitcom writers that come to america and are forced to work with LeBlanc for their new show. The writing is very smart.

The Expanse was incredible.

Bosch goes without saying.

Just saying.

Episodes was a literal laugh-riot.

LaBlanc was terrific, as were Tamsin Greig, Steven Mangan.

As long as you have a sense of humor, you don't need to know anything going in.

Well, language could be a problem for some people, lots of fsck-bombs.

But unlike some shows, they're pretty humorous and effective, which profanity should be or not used at all.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is another winner right out of the gate.

Outside of this forum, I don't know of anybody else who's watched it.

Killing Eve is another great show.

Sandra Oh is pretty good, but the show stealer is Jodie Comer.

No person that young can possibly be that good, but she is.

She steals every scene.

Hell on Wheels and Deadwood are great if you like Westerns, and I sure do.
