Apple Mail in Catalina is a real Cluster%&

I was sent an email this morning, by a known sender.

Went looking for it by search, despite KNOWING I'd seen it.

If you are on Catalina, Apple Mail search is totally screwed up.

Ended up launching Outlook, loading email, and searching using the sender name.

Voila! Showed up perfectly.

Thanks, Apple. What a screwup.

Yeah, no argument its got some issues, but searching (at least for me) doenst seem to be one of them.

However... how it organizies is bad -- might be why you cant see it?

This is not the first time it's happened, and the email is sitting in the Inbox. I had not gotten around to filing it anywhere.

Search has been terrible for years. But documenting that Outlook works better than built-in Mac Mail client really should be a Badge of Shame to Apple.

A friend has been cursing a blue streak since Apple "updated" its' Mail App a while ago.

Up until a year or so ago, this friend had always been an early adopter of Apple products. I think Apple has lost him as too many Apple products NO LONGER "just work".

I've saved too many years of mail in Mail - terrified to migrate.

It's hearing stories like this that make me glad to stay in Mojave. I just can't switch because of the lack of 32-bit support, but hearing these kinds of things doesn't make me more inclined to move forward.

FWIW, I had no problem with the transition from Sierra to Catalina.

No emails lost, no rules lost, account came over perfect. Mines a POP account, since I never need IMAP, nearly 120 GBs.

However, interface, although similar.. they arent.
