Hug your loved ones often and firmly
Posted by: ztirffritz

I lost a dear friend this evening to suicide. She was a mother and wife. She’s been sick for months with an illness that no one could diagnose. I think it wore her down. The pandemic meant she had few if any social interactions. She finally gave up. Hug your loved ones often and let them know that you love them. You never know when the last hug will be. She left behind a 5 year old son and devoted husband.

So sorry for your loss. Know that there was nothing you could do about it.

So sorry. My deepest sympathy to you. Dave

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

Sorry for your loss. Leaving behind her family shows how bad her condition affected her. Poor kid and husband.

That's tough. I recently lost my mother, but she was 97, lived a long good life, and died of natural causes. To see a young one go like this takes our breath way. Praying for her family to be able to survive the coming days and months. And for you as well to be able to support in whatever way you can.

So sad. Condolences for your loss. My brother took his life under similar circumstances. The hole in your heart doesn't heal quickly. "Shower the people you love with love, tell them the way that you feel"

Condolences for your loss, virtual hugs and real tears. Depression is an insidious illness, and even now the idea of any mental illness causes people to hide it away. It runs in my family, but fortunately our father sought treatment in his 50’s and was very open and honest with his children. Which led us to get our own treatment as needed.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

This kind of post highlights how important it is that we take care of both our mental and physical health during this difficult time, and for each of us to keep checking up on all of our friends and relatives to make sure they're doing OK.

And what PeterB said is worth repeating:

She’s been sick for months with an illness that no one could diagnose.

was this mental or physical illness?

She had a physical illness, but I suspect that there was a mental illness component that contributed to her suicide.

so, so sorry to all who knew and loved her. it's heart breaking news. I just can't imagine it for the immediate family.

the pandemic is really taking a toll on the populace, no joke. even if there are underlying issues of the mind, this is exacerbating those, so please be on the watch, folks, and do get out and about.
