If I'd put $2,000 into Apple stock instead of buying the 128K Mac...

That letter is pretty interesting, dated Sept 1975, even though Apple wasn't founded until April 1976, and didn't go public until 1980. It also talks about the "Lisa" computer four years before Motorola released the 68000 CPU that Lisa used.

There used to be pages that would allow you to play “What If” I’d invested $x on y date with z company. Do any of those still exist.

If I’d invested $3000 in AAPL instead of buying an iMac, Epson printer, external hard drive and a SuperDisk Drive in July 1998 I’d have $1.8 million worth of Apple stock.

ok...really didn't need to see that - that's right around the time I sold off my $6K or so of AAPL, glad to finally get my money back out after eight or so years of nothingness...maybe I should have left some in and see if Steve Jobs really could turn things around (but at least I'm not Ronald Wayne...remembering that keeps me sane)

I bought 1000 shares in 1997.

Paid about $13 a share.

Sold it when it passed $60 not too long afterward.

After the August split, that would be 112,000 shares, had I kept it.

I still have the 7 shares (now 98) that I bought in 2000 in my Roth IRA.

In the early 2000s I was living on my own in NYC. I was short on rent one month and sold all my AAPL at market price. *sigh*
