I'm a fan of Thermoworks, and earlier this year, I remember wishing they had a unit like this in their arsenal. We have a pretty decent Braun ear thermometer (uses disposable tips), but it couldn't hurt to have a quality contactless thermometer from a reliable company like this.

Then as COVID became a bigger concern, they announced the Wand for preorder at a introductory price. I hesitated, and then the price went to full retail. After it started shipping, the price dipped every few weeks in traditional Thermoworks style, and on a couple of occasions, I added it to my cart ready to order. But still, it approaches $100 with shipping and tax, and a fragile item like this should probably be stored in a protective case when shoved in a drawer or on the shelf of a medicine cabinet. They suggest a couple of generic cases not designed specifically for this item for ~$20 more.

I'm still interested, but based on this thread, I may just go for the Wyze for half the price.

I was in the same boat. At full retail Wyze was much more attractive at 50% cheaper. But with the sale price now. The Wyze is (math foggy) 30% cheaper. For $20 more you get the Thermoworks.

It's too bad it doesn't multi function as a grill thermometer. Hah. Wait, do no-touch internal temp grill thermometers even exist? Thermoworks, get to work.

Even at that price, the Thermoworks model is too expensive. Buy it if you want the extra features and the Thermoworks name and reputation, which, in reality, are unnecessary. If you just want a good, accurate, easy to use, no-touch thermometer, buy the iHealth. I own both and prefer it over the WAND.
