Our KitchenAid dishwasher is making new noises, and is probably due for some TLC.

I just spent an hour Googling for a service/repair manual and came up empty. Lots of parts places, and an ubiquitous generic dishwasher repair guide, but nothing specific to our model no. KUDM24SE.

Any ideas? I'm a low-level do-it-yourselfer, but usually take a first crack at something myself before resorting to expensive service calls.

Nobody remembers their first download, but everyone remembers their 1st LP.

www3.sears.com and the model number will get you a parts list and "views diagram" of the various groups. There may be an owner's manual, but I have yet to see a repair manual for any appliance. A lot of the digital units have a trouble-shooting sheet, but they can be of limited value.

Noisy diswashers usually have pump/motor problems, which are expensive to fix.

I think I will just put an OUT OF ORDER

It's about 10 years old.

It's a loud buzz. Wife just pointed it out, so haven't localized which part of the cycle.

Appliance411 did not seem to have any KitchenAid manuals.

Been there, Racer. No KitchenAids. Are KitchenAids made by Whirlpool (or vice-versa)?

Try to isolate the noise and get a better description and point in cycle

"buzz" could mean a lot of things

Did you have any luck diagnosing / fixing this problem? Our KitchenAid is showing similar symptoms and my "hour of googling" turned up your post.

Any insights you may have to share would be appreciated. The other hints in this thread have not proven useful.

Hey, thanks Greg, for reminding me that I had not gotten round to posting a follow-up to this inquiry (contrary to my practice—the danged paper and e-paper piles up faster than I can get to them!).

One thing the others are right about: there ain't no manual. You can get a generic dishwasher manual at the sites mentioned above, but otherwise you're on yer own.

As it turned out, the loud buzz (almost a rattle) disappeared the next day, so I figure it was just detritus that got stuck in the disposal. Whew! I was not looking forward to delving into this thing's innards; too much else on the plate (as it were).

Belated thanks to everyone above for the advice.

And Greg, this is nominally a Mac board, so if you don't have a Mac—get one. You won't regret it, and they're a lot more fun than dishwashers!
